All India Radio (AIR), or Akashvani, has proposed the nationwide broadcast of the 35th National Games to commence much ahead of the rollout of the event across Kerala from January 31, 2015.
The proposal was made at a meeting here at the National Games Secretariat where top officials of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting were present.
EARLY BROADCAST
The meeting has chalked out a plan to broadcast Games-related programmes from all the main stations and FM stations across the nation, including seven stations and 10 channels in Kerala.
All stations in Kerala will start airing special games programmes, starting early January. Curtain raisers and morning transmissions are expected to gain traction among listeners.
According to the proposed plan, news, news analysis and discussions will go on air in the mornings from January 1.
A Games Countdown will be aired every 10 minutes from January 21, exactly 10 days ahead of the inauguration. AIR is also planning phone-in programmes with celebrities of Indian sports.
‘BREAKING RESULTS’
In between every programme, ‘Breaking Results’ will be announced to keep listeners updated.
Games related news and other programmes will be broadcast simultaneously in Hindi and in English. Regional versions will be aired through different stations in other States.
The Games will have special mention in nationwide programmes such as the popular ‘Yuvavani.’
Inaugural and closing ceremonies will be covered live. Hourly updates will be aired on all days of the Games. A 30-minute special highlight will be separately broadcast.
The Magazine, Akashvani’s monthly magazine being brought out in English and Hindi, will come out as special editions during the period of the Games.
POPULAR EVENTS
Popular events including basketball, hockey, football, badminton and kabaddi will be covered live. AIR will set up its own grandstand in Thiruvananthapuram to coordinate live broadcast options.
