The country’s second largest automobile manufacturer Hyundai Motor India Ltd today announced the launch of CNG models of Santro, i10 and Accent models in Andhra Pradesh here.

The customers in Hyderabad and other parts of Andhra Pradesh will have the option of buying more economical and environment friendly cars. The dual fuel Santro, i10 and Accent will use compressed natural gas (CNG) as alternative fuel to power them.

The new models come with kits having advanced system to offer high performance, enhanced safety and comply with latest emission norms. However, Accent will not be available in Hyderabad.

Y.S.Lee, Zonal Manager-South, HMIL, said CNG has established itself as an eco-friendly and economical fuel alternative. HMIL will now offer this choice of fuel to its Santro, i10 and Accent customers. This will increase the attractiveness of these models as it will bring down running costs.”

One of the problems, however, in the Hyderabad market is that there are hardly any CNG stations. Soon oil marketing companies may consider new bunks. The CNG cars come at an additional cost of Rs 56,000 for the kit.
