This is with reference to “Spirit of India reigns over scams” ( Business Line , October 23). The article is highly commendable and the concluding message of Ratan Tata to management and engineering students is highly motivating. His bullishness about the future of India is inspiring in the manner of the Upanishadic call: “Arise! Awake! Stop not till the goal is reached.” Tata will relinquish his executive positions shortly. He should be invited by political parties to lead the country for the next 10 years. Being a management student, I look forward to more such educative and motivating articles.

Salary no charity

The report, “Most staff have accepted salary offer, claims Kingfisher CEO” ( Business Line , October 25), may be taken with a pinch of salt, given the recent similar promises that were made only to be broken by the management.

There is also no goodwill gesture in giving the October salary in full to employees after having kept them in suspense all along and denying them the interest on it, let alone the intangible loss due to mental agony and torture. It is the duty of the management to pay salaries on time provided the employees have worked for it and earned it. Giving the salary is no charity.
