Australian automatic Door maker Auto Ingress is looking to expand in India driven by the modernisation of India’s public spaces.
With increased orders for their automatic door systems from Indian airports, malls and other commercial and luxury residential spaces, the company, which currently has a small presence in Chennai, is looking to invest in a new manufacturing facility here.
“We are currently working out plans to establish a significantly larger facility within the next two years,” Raj Krishna, MD, Auto Ingress, said. The company has been allotted a land by SIPCOT earlier this month and is looking to build out a new facility in it. Krishna pegs the investment to be somewhere around ₹25 crore for land, building and equipment. With a team of around 35-40 people currently, Auto Ingress aims to be around 140 in the next few years, he adds.
In India, the company’s solutions have been deployed at high-footfall locations such as major city airports, premium shopping malls and some high-end apparels and jewellery chains. Besides these commercial office spaces and luxury residences are also growing segments.
“Airport authorities in India are all ramping up their infrastructure and looking to modernise and that’s been a plus for us. India is expanding so fast and in the next 5-10 years we see a lot off opportunities for our automatic doors,” Ana Krishna, CFO, Auto Ingress, said.
Auto Ingress notes increased inquiries from the Middle East region in recent months and the management team believe that once the new Chennai factory is up they will be assembling up to 500 automatic doors per month and will be in a position to meet the increasing domestic demand in India and also those coming form Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other countries.

Established in Queensland in 1996, Auto Ingress Pty Ltd manufactures both chain and belt driven automatic doors to suit busy doorways such as shopping centres, hospitals and universities just to name a few. With over 10,000 installations nationwide and export markets such as Dubai, Vietnam, Fiji, Greece and New Zealand, Auto Ingress’s automatic doors have emerged as a preferred choice in various overseas markets.
The company entered the Indian market in October 2015 initially importing and selling their automatic doors but then subsequently set up a small assembly facility in Chennai. Currently, it operates directly through a head office in Chennai, supported by a wide distribution network across India. It also has a customer experience centre here, where potential customers can experience their products.
While some key components come from Australia, the company says that it has achieved around 70 per cent localisation in India, “At some stage in the future, we plan to have a range exclusively India made” Ana Krishna said.
