Over 100 personnel with Glenmark Pharmaceuticals’ consumer care division have been retrenched, according to an industry source.
The sales personnel were from across the country, and according to the source, the division was being reviewed for “future-proofing” the business.
“Glenmark continuously evaluates its global business operations to enhance efficiency and maintain competitiveness in an evolving market. As part of this disciplined approach, with the objective of optimizing resources and ensuring long-term operational sustainability, some roles have become redundant. We are committed to supporting affected colleagues through job transition assistance,” a company spokesperson told businessline.
The industry source alleged that the personnel were called to a hotel in Hyderabad where the termination was communicated. The personnel protested the termination of service at the location, the source added.
The company spokesperson added, “We are providing necessary support to help our colleagues during this transition. Our employees are a key priority for us, and we are committed to managing this process with utmost care, sensitivity and respect for those impacted. At the same time, we remain focused on our continued efforts to serve patients and uphold our responsibilities within the healthcare community.”
