Mahindra Two Wheelers has said it will launch at least 10 models in the next two years. The slew of new products would include new models such as off-the-road bikes, hybrid and electric scooters and variants of existing models.

“We will churn out one model every quarter over the next two to two-and-a-half years, to create newness in the market,’’ Anoop Mathur, President, Mahindra Two Wheelers, said here.

Mathur said the company had invested around Rs 700 crore since inception (around five years back) and would invest more in future. The company, which has 400 dealerships and 500 touch-points at present, wants to expand those to 600 dealerships and 1,000 touch-points in the next six-to-eight months.

Facility expansion

It also plans to expand its manufacturing facility at Pithampur, near Indore, and its R&D centre at Chinchwad, Pune. The company has around 2,000 employees and there are around 200 engineers at the R&D centre. Right now it is utilising around 10-12 per cent of the installed capacity of around 1.20 million units annually at its factory.

To push sales, the company is planning a series of marketing campaigns for existing as well as newly launched models, said Viren Popli, Executive Vice President, Mahindra Two Wheelers. The company tied up recently with Snapdeal for selling its scooters online.
