Analytics technology provider Teradata is eying government-related projects and more business from the Indian retail sector.
Sunil Jose, Managing Director, Teradata India said that with the government's digital India initiative, there is a lot of opportunity in using analytics in areas such as smart city and 'swachh Bharat'.
"Sensors can be installed in rivers which can give data around pollution levels in a river and these are places where we are kind of investing our time, energy and people around this space," he added. The company did not quantify its growth plans in the country but said that the growth in e-commerce will throw up needs of analytics solutions like those offered by Teradata.
Company officials added to the growing use of analytics in decision making. Over the past year, the number of organizations with deployed/implemented data-driven projects has increased by 125 per cent and organizations place greater priority on structured data initiatives compared to unstructured data, as 32 per cent of organizations state that managing unstructured data is not on their to-do list.
The company counts Volvo, Hertz, P&G, Aviva, Vodafone, Orange, BMW, MTS, Lufthansa, Hallmark, Barclays, Standard Chartered, Siemens, as some of its global clients who have a presence in India.
