As part of efforts to step up digital payments, Mastercard and RBL Bank have added over 5 lakh point-of-sale locations in the last two years, since demonetisation of high value currency in November 2016.
“This is the fastest by any bank during this time framework,” Mastercard said in a statement on Tuesday.
To grow its digital payment acceptance footprint especially in Tier-II and -III towns, RBL Bank has signed partnerships with several payment facilitators.
This, in turn, has helped facilitate greater use of digital payments in traditionally cash-driven industry segments such as education and healthcare, it further added.
