Amendments to labour laws will protect small industries from cumbersome legal procedures, Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FKCCI) has said.
Welcoming the proposed amendment exempting small factories from the purview of labour laws, S Sampathraman, President, FKCCI, said the draft amendment announced recently by the Labour Ministry would help small factories.
“Many units have shut down because of the unethical tactics of the labour unions,” he added.
The exemption from inspections and the allotment of identification numbers are welcome steps, he said and added that the proposals also contained provisions to ensure workers’ safety and for overtime payments.
