The Himachal government would procure 500 MT of processing grade mango during the ongoing season under the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS).
The procurement would be made through 34 collection centres from July 1 to August 15, 2015 and rate of procurement for seedling and grafted varieties of mangoes would be Rs 5.50 per kg and Rs 6.50 per kg, respectively.
Besides, 300 MT of seedling and 200 MT of grafted mango varieties would be procured, an official spokesman said.
Procurement of fruits would be done in crates and HPMC and HIMFED would designate procurement agencies that would get Rs 1.30 per kg as handling charges.
Like previous year, average sale returns from the fruits have been assessed at Rs 2,000 and Rs 3,000 per MT for fruit of seedling and grafted mango varieties, respectively.
Under the scheme, 2.5 per cent extra fruit (by weight) would be procured from the farmers/orchardists, keeping in view the evepo-transpiration and respiration losses during the procurement.
The fruits will be procured from those farmers/orchardists who possess horticulture cards and own 10 bighas or less land under mango cultivation and no fruit will be procured from the contractors.
