The Reliance Defence and Engineering Ltd (RDEL), which was previously known as Pipavav Defence, has decided to further diversify into design and development of naval weapons and sensors, which cost about 60 per cent of a weapons platform.
The company in a media statement said it has entered into technology partnerships with some of the global leaders and is finalising partnerships for remaining verticals — Guided Weapons, Radars, Optronics and Underwater Systems.
The company is also setting up manufacturing facilities at its Naval manufacturing park and establishing a comprehensive supply chain through local industry partnerships, the statement said.
Mission critical softwareThe RDEL has Reliance Naval Systems (RNS) as a vertical, which focuses on providing end to end combat suite solutions. As majority of the systems are software intensive, RNS is also developing mission critical software in compliance with IEEE 12207 standards, the statement said.
Open competitionCommander Naresh Kumar, who is heading this initiative, said that RNS aimsto imbibe capabilities to meet the critical requirements of the Navy and Coast Guard as an integrated solution provider and its share of addressable market will add ₹20,000 crore to its top line in an open competition, the statement added.
