With an aim to re-energise the Swachh Bharat Mission, the Government plans to take up a campaign at different levels from the ward to the State till March next year, a statement from the Ministry of Urban Development said.
Eight Ministers and over a dozen Secretaries of different departments of the Government held a brain storming session here as the Swachh Bharat Mission will complete one year on October 2, 2015.
Defence Minister, Manohar Parrikar, Minister for Civil Aviation, Ashok Gajapati Raju, Minister for Health & Family Welfare, J.P.Nadda, Minister for Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Prakash Javdekar, Minister for Tourism & Culture, Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State for Agriculture, Sanjiv Balian, and Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, participated in the discussions.
As part of the campaign, public areas such as railway stations, airports, shipyards, hospitals, schools and colleges and tourist destinations will be ranked based on the degree of sanitation, the statement said.
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change said it will soon come out with final notifications in respect of management of solid waste, e-waste, plastic waste and bio-medical waste.
“On-board cleaning services have been introduced in 560 trains and would be extended to another 400 over the next two years.The introduction of modules on sanitation in school curriculum will also be considered,” it added.
The Government has decided to undertake 11-theme based sanitation campaigns in urban areas during different time intervals.
