Housing finance regulator National Housing Bank (NHB) on Tuesday announced ₹ 100 crore special refinance package to provide relief to the people in the flood affected areas of Tamil Nadu.
Under this package, a sum of ₹ 100 crore has been earmarked at concessional interest rate of 6.5 per cent to housing finance companies for providing refinance assistance to individuals.
“We do hope that this would facilitate the affected people to reconstruct and renovate their houses”, Sriram Kalyanaraman, Managing Director & CEO, NHB said in a statement here.
NHB statement noted that there has been large scale destruction of life and property in the State of Tamil Nadu in the wake of the recent unprecedented rains and floods.
