
Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) Chairman and Managing Director Rajesh Tripathi has announced ex gratia of ₹5 lakhs and donated his one day's salary to the family of dead employee N Venkatesh.
N Venkatesh, 29, working in the HR department, reportedly committed suicide earlier this week in protest over the proposed 100 per cent strategic sale of the stake by the government in the PSU based here.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday presented a cheque to the family of Venkatesh, promising on Thursday to pay ex gratia of ₹5 lakhs on behalf of the State Governemnt.
Addressing the employees of DCI at a condolence meeting organised at head office here on Friday, Tripathi made the announcement and instructed the officials to complete the formalities immediately.
Expressing his solidarity with the employees and shock over the incident, he appealed to the employees not to take any hasty, extreme decisions while facing challenges. He also gave an assurance to them that he was available to discuss any type of problem with them.
He told the staff that the company was presently going through a crisis and appealed to them to discharge their responsibility with commitment and dedication.
