NTR Trust, a not-for-profit organisation and Uber have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) here on Tuesday with the objective of creating 20,000 new entrepreneurial opportunities in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

As a part of this MoU, NTR Trust and Uber will collaborate to provide skills training and co-create development programmes for driver partners. NTR Trust will help source, train, screen and facilitate seed funding and bank linkages for youngsters, who will go on to become micro-entrepreneurs on the Uber platform.

Together, they plan to reach out to potential candidates, train them and help eligible candidates procure loans from vehicle financing programmes.

Siddharth Shanker, GM, Uber Hyderabad, in a statement said “Uber is deeply committed to encouraging micro-entrepreneurship and building skilled labour in the cities that we serve. We look forward to this collaboration to provide the entrepreneurs with necessary training, access to vehicle financing, technology and digital innovation.”

The MoU was inked in the presence of David Plouffe, Chief Advisor, Uber Inc., a prominent American political strategist known for Barack Obama's Presidential Campaign and Nara Lokesh, Trustee, NTR Trust.

From founding in 2009 to its launches in over 361 cities in 66 countries, Uber's continues to expand. Its services are available in 26 Indian cities.
