Atchayam’s Food Box, a company that sets up automated vending outlets that deliver food from branded restaurants, has tied up with Southern Railway to set up an outlet at the Central Station. This is a pilot initiative with plans to expand to more locations. The company is also talking to Oil Marketing Companies to set up such automated delivery points at fuel stations on the highways, according to Satish Chamyvelumani, Founder and CEO of Atchayam Business Solutions.
The outlet at the railway station is its fourth in Chennai. At the railway station, travellers can pick up food served from some of their favourite restaurants packed in hygienic containers. Food will be delivered in less than a minute and a half. The company hopes to widen its service with online ordering, mobile app and deliver-to-seat.
