Godrej Consumer Products Ltd and salon chain Naturals have come together to groom professionals for the beauty and salon industry.

Announcing their plan to set up a training academy for beauticians and hair-stylists, at a press conference here, CK Kumaravel, CEO and Co-Founder of Naturals, said this will be the largest academy of its kind in the country.

“Our intention is to address the huge demand for skilled manpower in the industry, which is the biggest challenge it is facing today,” he said.

According to him, Naturals alone would require a few thousand professionals in the next three-four years. Godrej too, on its part, plans to train one million youth in various skills by 2020. Godrej Consumer Products, through its division Godrej Good and Green, has been offering beautician and hair care training programme – SALONi, for some time now as one of its several employability training programmes.

“We have so far trained close to 20,000 women through SALONi,” said KD Dotiwalla, Associate Vice-President, Good & Green, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd.

With Naturals, it will set up Godrej Naturals Hair & Beauty Academy near Chennai to train freshers.

While SALONi will be the knowledge partner for Natural, DB-Tech, a skill training network, another member behind the initiative, will deliver the programme.
