The Special Court hearing the 2G spectrum case reserved for Thursday the order on bail application of accused Mr R.K. Chandolia, the former personal secretary to the then Telecom Minister, Mr A. Raja.
The CBI opposed Mr Chandolia’s bail plea saying he along with Mr Raja and the former Telecom Secretary, Mr Siddharth Behura, were the “core” of the conspiracy in the 2G case. Therefore, these three accused fall in a different category from the other accused who have been granted bail so far and the ‘principle of parity’ does not apply to them, the CBI said.
Mr Chandolia’s counsel contended that the CBI was indulging in “hair splitting” of the orders of Supreme Court and High Court granting bail to the other accused in the case.
