The Avinashilingam University for Women here has designed and developed a partial robot-based ‘soan papdi' flaking machine.
The first machine would be delivered next month to Ghanta Foods Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad, manufacturers of Bambino brand products including soan papdi, a popular flaky Indian sweet, Dr S. Maragatham, Dean, Faculty of Engineering told PTI.
Manufacturing of soan papdi being labour intensive and a time consuming process, the university took up the project as a challenge, she said.
The Rs 8 lakh three-armed robotic machine would help reduce labour and wastage, she claimed, adding the university had patented the product.
