Around 7,500 individuals and 3,000 teams globally have registered for MoveHack 2018, NITI Aayog’s global mobility hackathon, that was launched on August 1.

The themes for the hackathon include multimodal commuter mobility in cities, multimodal freight handling and transportation, road safety and future of mobility, according to an official release.

The total prize money for the hackathon is over Rs 2 crore and the top 30 submissions to MoveHack will get to participate in a two-day mentoring workshop, where they would learn from the experiences of the thought leaders.

In addition, the hackathon provides a unique opportunity for end-to-end integration of solutions in Smart Cities, States and Central Ministries through commercial implementation.

Milennials have dominated the registrations received so far, with most interest seen in the 18 to 25 age group. Among the global participants, the US, the UK, Israel and Singapore have been leading the registration charts, according to an official release. The winners will be announced during the Move Summit 2018, which is to be organised by the NITI Aayog on September 7 and 8 in New Delhi.

The jury for the finals will comprise the top policy-makers, VCs and business leaders focused on mobility solutions for India. The mentors and jury for the hackathon include Nandan Nilekani (Co-Founder and Chairman of Infosys), Deep Kalra (Founder & CEO, MakeMyTrip.com), Debjani Ghosh (President, NASSCOM), Dennis Ong (Distinguished Architect and Head of Architecture & Systems Engineering at Verizon), Mohandas Pai (former CFO and Board Member at Infosys), CP Gurnani (CEO and MD of Tech Mahindra) and Nivruti Rai (Country Head, Intel India).
