Coconut oil prices increased at Erode markets. “After slump in price of the coconut oil, it was increased on Wednesday. Two days back the price of the oil was decreased and today the price was increased by ₹ 50 for 15-kg loose pack. Today it fetched ₹1,590-1,610. But the sales was very low,” said RM Palanisamy, an oil trader. He said due to winter in North India the demand for the coconut oil has stopped. Meanwhile, the price of the copra also increased. It was sold at ₹7,100-7,300 a quintal. The demand for the same is high, so the price of the copra may increase further. Already the stockists of copra are possessing huge stock of copra with them, expecting good price more for the copra. The sale of edible copra was very poor, though it fetched ₹7,500 a quintal.
