New pepper has started trickling in with three tonnes of it being traded at the terminal market on Friday. The produce arrived from Chittar in Pathanamthitta district was traded at ₹645 a kg, trade sources told Business Line .
Meanwhile, 10 tonnes of old pepper were traded at ₹690, ₹685 and ₹675 respectively. Spot prices remained unchanged at ₹68,000 (ungarbled) and ₹71,000 (garbled) a quintal. January contract on the IPSTA stayed steady at ₹66,000 a quintal, while February moved up by ₹1,000 to ₹62,000. Export prices were at $10,875 a tonne c&f for Europe and $11,125 for the US.
