Telangana State Government is set to open 119 residential schools for backward classes across the districts on June 17.
Since the formation of Telangana in 2014, 142 such schools have opened. With the present addition, the total will go upto 261. Prior to 2014, there were only 19 schools for the community, an official release claimed.
The total strength of students in these 280 schools would be around 91,680 and teachers 5335.
The responsibility of officially opening these new schools during the academic year 2019-20 has been given to the ministers and respective Legislators.
With this addition, the total number of residential schools goes up to 906.
