The proposed food park at Jangipur in the Murshidabad district of West Bengal will be operational soon. This apart, five cold chain projects have already been sanctioned by the Centre here in West Bengal, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries said here.
The Minister was in town to attend Agroprotech 2015, organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
According to a release issued by ICC, Jyoti pitched for greater Centre-State co-ordination for the cause of food processing industry in the country.
In this context, she called for realigning the policy focus for supporting small scale food processing units
According to the Union Minister, only two per cent of the food is processed in India.
