The Central Board of Secondary Education on Tuesday issued a clarification over the alleged data leak of around two lakh students who took NEET-UG exam. Denying the allegation, the board said the data of over 13 lakh candidates it had collected was maintained in encrypted format with the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

“All the vital details such as identification documents, mobile and email-id are in the encrypted format,” said an official statement. It added that the results are declared by CBSE through NIC and do not contain mobile number, email id and other identifications details of the candidates.

Once the results of NEET-UG were declared, the data of all the candidates was given to the Directorate General Health Service, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, for providing the same to the States and other counselling authorities for the purpose of counselling of 85 per cent seats under their jurisdiction, it said.
