The Kerala State Women's Development Corporation (KSWDC) hopes to achieve an all-time high of Rs 12.32 crore on the repayment and recovery front during this financial year.

This represents a progressively improving performance in the order of settlements achieved over the past five years, according to Mr P. T. M. Sunish, Managing Director, KSWDC.

MONTHLY SCORE

Repayments effected during this period have risen from Rs 2.30 crore averaging to Rs 19.22 lakh every month in 2005-06, to Rs 5.75 crore in 2010-11, logging a monthly average of Rs 47.97 lakh.

This is now sought to be raised to Rs 12.32 crore at a monthly average of Rs 1.02 crore, Mr Sunish said.

He attributed the change in fortunes to mainly the professional approach of employees to the job at hand, which has resulted in optimum utilisation of funds and also ‘remarkable' recovery status.

Backlog of unaudited accounts and pending files have been cleared ‘with a vengeance' over the past two years.

STATUROTY AUDIT

The company also managed to complete the statutory audit of the four years starting from 1995-96 in the last one-and-a-half-year.

The system of daily, online monitoring of recovery status and fund disbursement was strengthened and is being directly supervised by the Managing Director himself.

This close monitoring helped the employees to be target-oriented and the achievement of the targets has only motivated them to work even harder, Mr Sunish said.

A healthy working atmosphere combined with diversification of operational functions has added to the performance results.

BIGGER TARGETS

This has in turn encouraged associates such as the National Minorities' Development Finance Corporation (NMDFC), National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC), National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation (NSCFDC) and the Government of Kerala to entrust even bigger targets with KSWDC.

The corporation expects to receive an all-time high Central assistance amounting to Rs 20 crore during this financial year, Mr Sunish said. This will be shared between NMDFC (Rs 12 crore), the NBCFDC (Rs 6 crore) and the NSCFDC (Rs 2 crore).

The corporation has been receiving contributions in consistently increasing proportions during the last five financial fiscals. Budget provisions from the State Government, too, have gone up correspondingly during the last five years.
