Kashmir today started limping back to normalcy, five days after the hanging of Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru, even as curfew remained in force in 10 towns of the Valley as a precautionary measure.
A police spokesman said curfew has been relaxed in many parts of the Valley this morning.
“Curfew is in force in some places as a precautionary measure which includes six police station areas in the city and some towns in rest of the Valley,” the spokesman said.
He said curfew was not relaxed in north Kashmir towns of Sopore, Pattan, Baramulla, Handwara and Bandipora while in south Kashmir, restrictions continued in Shopian, Yaripora and Anantnag town. Curfew also remained in force in old Srinagar city.
Curfew was imposed across Kashmir Valley on Saturday following the hanging of Guru inside Tihar Jail in Delhi.
Three persons died and over 50 others were injured in clashes between protestors and security forces during protests against Guru’s execution.

Comments:
Executing Afzal was on account of his involvement in highest level of
anti-national activity apart from causing death to several people-
including policemen. His action can be surely termed as heinous crime.
If ANYONE has objection over Afzal's death penalty, he/she also must be
treated equally as anti-national and should be thrown out on the other
part of the border-across Pak.
I think the root cause of the problem is that this state has a separate set of laws as er article 370. The constitution needs to be fully followed, this needs to be revoked so that Kashmiris have us from rest of India as regular locals also by migration etc over a period, and the Kashmiris do not remain feeling cut off or alone from rest of India.
The Kashmiris I know who have left Kashmir and live in our states and cities are all well adjusted, happy, developing and utilising opportunities to help their families develop. By cutting them off and making them live like a separate peoples' due toi this draconian article, we are increasing their sense of victimisation and of feeling cut off from India.
