India’s largest passenger vehicles maker Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) on Monday reported a marginal growth in its domestic monthly sales for the month of September with 1.51 lakh units sold as compared to 1.50 lakh units sold in same month last year.

However, in the passenger car segment, the company reported more than a per cent decline year-on-year (YoY), with 1.15 lakh units sold in the month as against around 1.17 lakh units in September last year.

The company sold 34,971 units of Mini segment (Alto, WagonR) last month, down 9 per cent compared to the 38,479 units sold in September 2017, data released by the company said. The company sold 74,011 units of cars in the compact segment (Swift, Igbis, Baleno, Celerio), up one per cent against the 72,804 units sold in the corresponding month last year. The company sold 6,246 units of its mid-size sedan Ciaz in September as against 5,603 units in the same month year.

In the utility vehicle segment (like S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, Ertiga), MSIL reported around 9 per cent growth YoY to 21,639 units during the month as compared with 19,900 units in corresponding month previous year. The company sold 2,038 units of its light commercial vehicle last month as compared with 879 units in September last year.
