Who’s who in the merged Mahindra Satyam-Tech Mahindra entity

With the merger of Mahindra Satyam and Tech Mahindra formally complete, the Web sites of the two firms too have now became one. This is no surprise.

But what is interesting is, the merged site (at the time of filing the story) did not have the list of leaders and their roles as the two Web sites used to have till yesterday. This is to be updated in a day or two.

Tech Mahindra has been building a leadership team for the last two years even as it started the joint go-to-market strategy with Mahindra Satyam. It has elevated some and removed or sidelined certain others as it set its eyes on the life after the merger.

Though the complete picture is likely to emerge soon, here is a list of leaders who are going to play a key role in the merged entity. The key leaders (given in alphabetical order) — A.S. Murthy; Amitava Roy; Hari T; Manish Vyas; Manoj Chugh; Milind Kulkarni; Ravichandran L; Rakesh Soni; Raju Wadalkar and V. Srinivasa Rao, —will function under the leadership of C.P. Gurnnai, Managing Director.

Interestingly, only Hari T. and A.S. Murthy from Satyam could make it to the cream in the new scheme of things.

Hari T, who was handling marketing and human resources, will continue to head marketing, besides leading the business consulting team of the merged entity. Hari played a crucial role in holding the tribe intact when the scam hit the company. “It is his idea to nurture young talent that had prompted the management to launch the Young CEO programme,” a company executive said.

Manoj Chugh, an alumni of IIT Khargapur would drive the company’s ‘connected world’ solutions as it boasts of its digital IT solutions. He is responsible for the integrated entity’s business expansion plans across accounts and geographies. He has a wide range of experience having worked for Wipro, Scientific Atlanta, Cisco and EMC for over 30 years.

Milind Kulkarni, who replaced Sonjoy Anand as CFO at Tech Mahindra, would be the Chief Financial Officer. Vasanth Krishnan, who was a member of the crisis management team of Satyam, is likely to go back to the group headquarters of Mahindras. In fact, it was originally rumoured that Sonjoy would lead the finance team. He, however, quit the firm last month to join a Gulf company.

This leaves a tie for the post of Chief Technology Officer. Both the companies have CTOs (A.S. Murthy for Satyam and Raju Wadalkar for Tech Mahindra). There could be room for two CTOs as the two lead two different technologies.

V. Srinivasa Rao will head the NMACS (Networks, Mobility, Analytics, Cloud and Security) and Manish Vyas the sales team for Telecom Business that constitutes about 45-50 per cent of the $2.7-billion revenues of the firm.
