Cisco is eyeing an unfolding opportunity in the country’s digital learning market. The $2-billion market is expected to grow at 11-12 per cent in the next three years as the education market touches the $140-billion mark by 2020 from the present level of $97 billion.

The firm, which is working with over 3,000 partners to roll out its digital learning production solutions in the country, released its blueprint for Digital Education here on Thursday.

Leveraging technology

The technology company organised a Digital Education Summit at the Indian School of Business (ISB) here to explain to stakeholders in the education industry the disruption that is happening in the space, and how they can leverage technologies to enhance the scope of learning.

“About 30 per cent of the population is in the age group of 0-15, and set to join the education system. We have developed solutions and technologies that can save time and effort for schools. For one, we can save time in taking attendance. Using an app, the time spent on taking attendance will come down to 30 seconds from 10 minutes,” said Sudhir Nayar, Managing Director (Sales), Cisco (India and SAARC).

Showcasing the solutions, he said at just ₹200 a user per month they could help the digital learning journey. Using Cisco’s Spark application, teachers and students can collaborate from different locations using a variety of smart gadgets, giving them real-time learning.

“By offering educators and students more ways to connect, engage, manage, and succeed, the Cisco Blueprint for Digital Education aims to help colleges and universities create an integrated digital environment,” he said.
