The All-India Plastics Manufacturers' Association (AIPMA) will organise Plastivision India 2011, a trade show for plastic industry, at Goregaon, Mumbai, from January 20 to 24, the organisers said today.

The eighth edition of the triennial event that commenced in 1992 will offer opportunities for market leaders to explore this market by providing a networking platform for both manufacturers and visitors, Mr Jayesh K. Rambhia, Vice-President (West Zone), AIPMA, told reporters here.

More than 1,000 exhibitors from 17 countries are expected to participate in it.

Claiming that plastic is an “environment-friendly” material, he said India has the highest rate (80%) of plastic recycling in the world. As against the world average of 35 kg per head consumption of plastic annually, India consumes only 8 kg which is expected to double in the next five years, making it the world's third largest plastic consumer.

It will require an investment of Rs 45,000 crore in plastic processing industry, he added.

Plastivision 2011 will witness more than 300 foreign delegates and also have two green pavilions to focus on conserving energy and reusing waste.
