India Post’s ‘My Stamp’ scheme is gaining momentum with the department proposing to extend the scheme to cover all postal circles.

It is going to be formally rolled out on September 15 in Coimbatore at Philatelic Bureaux, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, said Postmaster General (Western Region) Manju P Pillai.

The inaugural function will include release of ‘My Stamps’ of D Nanda Kumar, President, Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, Pillai said and pointed out that the initial enthusiasm for getting sheets of personalised postage stamp was overwhelming.

As of now, the department had released such personalised postage stamps with the image of the individual as a stamp alongside a floral picture. It is now being extended to cover wildlife and monuments and images or logo of corporate organisations alongside the stamp.

The customer would have to remit ₹300 along with his/ her colour photo (on white background) or provide a soft copy of the same to receive a sheet of ‘My Stamp’ containing 12 postage stamps. The face value of each stamp is fixed at ₹5. The customer cannot resell the stamp, she added.
