Arjuna Natural Extracts, a major supplier of bio-active compounds to pharmaceutical and nutraceutical companies in the West, has entered the domestic market with the launch of Curegarden.

“Curegarden represents a range of botanical products. We have identified three bio-active compounds for domestic market and more will be rolled out in phases,” said P.J. Kunjachan, managing director, Arjuna Natural Extracts.

“Currently, we are testing our products in Bangalore market. Based on the feedback and experience, we will be rolling out into 10 cities across the country next year,” he added.

The botanical products launched by the company addresses immunity (Daily Defence), joint pain (Joint Rescue) and diabetes (Diabetes Defence).

Kunjachan did not disclose the quantum of investment in its domestic foray. He said that to market the products in Bangalore, the company had identified 35 outlets, a combination of organic products selling outlets and pharmaceutical stores.

Kunjachan said Arjuna Natural Extracts, in its 22 years of existence, has achieved exports to the tune of 75 tonnes of bio-active compounds extracted mainly from botanical plants. The turnover is around Rs 100 crore annually.

In the bio-active compounds sphere, the company has 13 PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) patents mainly through extraction from spices and medicinal plants and of these eight have been commercialised globally.

“Major pharma and nutraceutical companies rely on us for our bio-active compounds from spices and medicinal plants for it has high levels of consistent composition and potency level,” he explained.

With customers in around 40 countries, we have achieved success through selection of raw material, cutting edge extraction technology backed by analytical equipment and an experienced team of professionals, he said.
