To further strengthen the collaboration between industry and IIT Delhi, the institute on Saturday marked the second edition of ‘Industry Day’. The idea of the one day event was to showcase the industry relevant work which is happening at IIT-Delhi and how the institute can help in solving the challenges faced by the industry.

“In terms of scale and participation it is much larger than last year. Around 700-800 people including those from various industries, faculty, students and alumni took part in the event”, said Anurag Rathore, Associate Dean, Corporate Relations, IIT-Delhi.

IIT Delhi industry partnerships are primarily in the form of extensive Research and Development projects, CSR collaborations, training programs and technical collaborations.

This year, around 40 stalls were put up in the institute which showcased the products ranging from electric mobility to arsenic removal from potable water.

Interestingly, this time the event also focused on providing job opportunities for the PhD students who were seeking to get placed in the industry.

“Traditionally, placements are focused towards the undergraduate students and we did not have a platform where we could try to place our PhD students in the industry, it is mostly left to the students, supervisor to look for a job opportunity. However this time, more than 50 companies have showed interest in hiring our PhD students,” said Rathore.
