Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who reached Moscow on an official visit late on Sunday night, will oversee commissioning of stealth-guided missile frigate, INS Tushil, at Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad, Russia on Monday.
Six of Krival class warship, of which INS Tushil is part, are already in service of Indian Navy, including 3 Talwar Class ships constructed at Baltiysky Shipyard in Peterburg, and three of Teg Class built at Yantar shipyard.
India had signed a contract with JSC Rosonboronexport in October 2016 for two warships and from January 2024, the vessel underwent a series of extensive trials -- ranging from sea trials to delivery acceptance trials under the aegis of an expert team of Indian Navy.
The 125-metre-long INS Tushil weighs 3,900 tonnes and picks up lethality due to a mix of Russian and Indian cutting-edge technologies.
Rajnath Singh will also attend the 21st meeting of India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military & Military Technical Cooperation.
On his arrival in Moscow late on Sunday night, the Defence Minister received a warm welcome by Indian Ambassador to Russia, Vinay Kumar, and Russian Deputy Minister of Defence, Alexander Fomin, the Indian embassy in Moscow posted on X.
Among the engagement during his three-day long visit, Singh will also pay tributes at ‘The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier’ in Moscow to honour the Soviet soldiers killed during the Second World War.
He will also hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on defence and strategic issues. Besides that he will interact with members of the Indian community.
