PAN-CITY PROPOSALS
Estimated Cost ₹1,878.8 cr
The key components are provision of an ICT backbone for better e-governance, which can be harnessed in various areas: surveillance for safety; smart metering of water and energy resources; monitoring air quality; and solid waste management, with 100 per cent segregation at source. There are also plans to provide 24x7 water supply throughout the city, expansion of the airport, construction of a super-speciality hospital, and for installation of renewable energy units. A proposed intelligent traffic management system will provide for priority bus lanes; battery-operated para-transit facilities and other non-motorised transport.
AREA-BASED PROPOSALS
Estimated Cost ₹1,655.7 cr
The plan is to decongest and decentralise the inner city area and create a commercial corridor with new growth centres using mixed land use provisions. The area identified is around the Dharmanath Circle, Ram Teerth Nagar, Mahantesh Nagar, Kala Mandir, and Fort Road. A New City Centre is also to come up, with provision for offices, shopping malls, multi-utilities centres, and multi-level car parking. Open plazas with sit-out benches will serve leisure needs. Additionally, the Central Bus Terminus is to be modernised, with smart passenger information boards and automated voice announcement.
FUNDING OPTIONS
₹1,007 crore from Smart City Fund allocations; ₹1,006 crore from PPP funding; ₹647.3 crore from various Departments; ₹553.3 crore from convergence with Central schemes; ₹135.3 crore from ULB; ₹158.8 crore as special grant from State government.
