Andy Warhol put well-known logos into his paintings, but do you know of artists who designed logos for brands? India’s own MF Hussain was one of them. He designed a logo for the Mumbai-based Joy Shoes, which drew from his passion for painting horses. The logo for Joy Shoes is a horseshoe going through the lower loop of the letter J.
Surrealist Salvador Dali designed the logo for Chupa Chups, originally a Spanish brand of lollipops and other sweet treats, which is now owned by Perfetti van Melle.
Cartoonist Dik Browne, who is known for writing and drawing Hagar the Horrible and Hi and Lois, created the logo for Chiquita, the US-based banana producer. He was an illustrator for Newsweek and worked in advertising as well.
As with logos of other companies, some of these logos have evolved since they were designed, but with only a few differences in detail.
