Drug firm Alembic Pharmaceuticals today reported 25.35 per cent increase in consolidated net profit after tax and share of profit of associates to Rs 77.27 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2014 mainly on account of robust sales.

It had a posted net profit of Rs 61.64 crore in the July-September quarter of 2013-14, Alembic Pharmaceuticals said in a filing to the BSE.

Consolidated total income of the company also rose to Rs 547.08 crore during the quarter under consideration from Rs 486.36 crore in the same period a year ago, the filing said.

Domestic sales grew to Rs 327.43 crore during the quarter ended June 30, 2014 from Rs 282.60 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal, Alembic Pharmaceuticals said.

Exports also rose to Rs 221.32 crore from 205.07 crore.

Established in 1907, Alembic Pharmaceuticals manufactures pharmaceutical products, pharmaceutical substances and intermediates.

Shares of Alembic Pharmaceuticals were trading at Rs 402 per scrip in the afternoon on BSE, up 3.92 per cent from their previous close.
