Audi India, the subsidiary of German luxury carmaker Audi, has sold 1,002 vehicles in October. This is a 17.8 per cent rise from 850 cars sold during the same month a year ago.

The company’s sales for the year-to-date (January–October) rose 15.4 per cent to 8,393 units from 7,267 vehicles sold during the same period last year, the company said in a statement.

“With this performance, we have moved within the striking distance of our goal, of becoming the first luxury car manufacturer in India to cross the sales of 10,000 units in a calendar year. While the market conditions continued to be challenging, we persisted with our focus on enhancing our product offering, growing a high quality network and introducing some very innovative service and finance offerings, most of which have become benchmarks in the industry,” said Joe King, Head, Audi India.

Global sales

Globally, Audi continued its double-digit growth rate in September with 150,300 deliveries, a year-on-year increase of 10 per cent.

The Audi Group delivered 1,180,748 cars in the first three quarters of 2013 ((2012: 1,097,507 cars), an increase of 7.6 percent.

Expanding network

Audi India plans to expand its network to 34 dealerships by the end of 2013 from its existing 29 centres.

The company had opened new showrooms in Mumbai South, Lucknow, Bhubaneswar and Delhi Central earlier this year and in Karnal (Haryana) and Vadodara (Gujarat) in October.

The company, which intends to open two more showrooms in this month, plans to expand its network to 34 dealerships by the end of 2013 from its existing 29 centres.
