The State-run trading firm MSTC needs to increase profits substantially and complete the container freight station on an urgent basis, the Steel Minister, Beni Prasad Verma said today.

“The Minister of Steel advised MSTC to increase its profits substantially,” an official statement, issued after the review of MSTC’s performance, said.

“Shri Verma also exhorted MSTC to complete the setting up of container freight station in Haldia and Shredding plant project in the country with a great deal of urgency,” it added.

During April-September, MSTC’s business volume has jacked up by 58 per cent to Rs 10,603 crore compared to the same period last year.

“MSTC has made continuous growth in profit in last three years,” the statement added.

MSTC has recently entered into an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government to provide it total e-Commerce services for all transactions.

S K Tripathi, Chairman and Managing Director, MSTC handed over a Rs 5.47 crore final dividend cheque for 2011-12 to the Minister.
