Corporate bosses should encourage their colleagues to challenge and take decision-making to the ground level, Nirmalya Kumar, Member, Group Executive Council, Tata Sons, said here on Saturday.
According to him, gone are the days when a company boss was ‘Always Mr Right’ and his words were sacrosanct and could never be challenged.
Instead, bosses should encourage their colleagues to challenge them with new ideas and fresh perspectives. Kumar was speaking at a special interactive session with senior members of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
“There should be a culture and system which will take the process of decision-making to the ground level. Leaders have got to empower people to make decisions,” Kumar was quoted as saying by a CII release.
India has to rid itself of the feudal you-are-right-sir culture which is self-defeating. “It takes you nowhere near the heights of excellence,” he added.
