The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has made “queries” at dry-cell battery major Eveready Industries’ corporate office in Kolkata. The reason though is not yet known.
Confirming a “visit” by the Additional DG and his staff on August 23, the company in a notice to the bourses said officials ascertained “certain business related information of the company”.
“The Additional DG, CCI did visit our office on August 23 and ascertained in respect of certain business related information of the company and the company officials cooperated and responded to all such queries as were raised by him and his staff during such visit,” its notice read.
When contacted, Amritanshu Khaitan, Managing Director, Eveready, said: “I have no comments. It is a regulatory issue.”
