INOXCVA, a subsidiary of Vadodara-based cryogenic liquid storage and transport products maker, Inox India Ltd will manufacture multi-process pipe transfer lines with vacuum jacket for the world’s largest experimental Thermo-nuclear Fusion Reactor (ITER), coming up in Cadarche, France.

 

INOXCVA provides critical engineering solutions for industrial gas, oil and gas field equipment and liquefied natural gas (LNG).

 

“We have been assigned the turnkey responsibility to design, manufacture, transport and install the critical components of pipe transfer lines for the project – ITER. The supply will happen during 2015-2017 and installation will be done in 2019,” Parag Kulkarni, director and CEO, INOXCVA told BusinessLine.

 

The company will invest around Rs 20 crore at its existing facility in Vadodara to manufacture and test the long and complex cryogenic transfer lines required for the project.

 

The ITER project, which will be the world's largest experimental facility to demonstrate the scientific and technical feasibility of fusion power, is an international collaborative project worth 13 billion Euros and will be executed over 10 years. Seven nation partners namely, China, EU, India, Japan, Korea, Russia and USA will contribute ‘in-kind’ for the project.

 

ITER India, a part of the Institute for Plasma Research (IPR), Gandhinagar is the nodal agency responsible for the Indian portion of the project.

 

INOXCVA, being the World’s second largest player in the cryogenic technology for industrial applications, was awarded the order for the pipe transfer lines, which will be required for transporting the cold power from the source to the superconducting magnets as well as to other systems.

 

The company with an annual turnover of Rs 1000 crore operates in four segments namely industrial gas storage tanks, oil and gas pressure pumping equipments, LNG units and cryoscientific fuelling systems. Besides Vadodara, the company has manufacturing facilities Kandla and Silvassa in Gujarat while it also has operations in the US for pressure pumping.
