Ninestars Information Technologies Ltd, a leading digital content solutions provider, has been selected by the State and University Library Aarhus of Denmark to digitise 32 million Danish newspaper pages.

According to a press release from Ninestars Information, it will scan and digitise the newspaper collection from microfilm, and the data will be made available to users via the library's service. All current Danish newspapers are microfilmed by the State and University Library, and this work amounts to 8,50,000 pages per year.

The project is a key component in preserving and providing access to material, facilitating research into Danish culture, history and language.

Gokul Krishnan, Co-Founder and Director - Operations at Ninestars, said in the release, “This is among the largest newspaper digitisation initiatives across the world.”

Ninestars’ subsidiary in Hamburg, Germany, which is its newest facility in Europe, Ninestars GmbH, will handle the project. The first batch of digitised newspapers is expected to be accessible from the summer of 2014.

Ninestars has digitised over 300 million pages for leading media houses globally, the release said.
