Baba Ramdev-promoted Patanjali Ayurved is targeting a turnover of Rs 10,000 crore in 2016-17 on the back of its products that range from spices to personal care products and beverages to health drinks.
Baba Ramadev said, “We have been witnessing a growth of about 100-150 per cent year–on-year since we launched our products in the market in 2011. We touched the Rs 5,000-crore turnover mark in 2015-16 and have seen a growth of 150 per cent. Now, we will aggressively look at the target of Rs 10,000 crore in 2016-17.”
The company will be making investments worth over Rs 1,000 crore in expanding capacity as well enhancing its R&D facilities. “We have seen a rise in demand and we need to expand our manufacturing facilities. We are looking to set up four-five units in states that include Rajasthan, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Assam as well as Haryana. We will focus especially on regions where farmers are affected by the drought situation. We will be taking their products as raw material for our processing plant and hope to generate employment,” he added.
He said the company would continue focusing on the four verticals, namely, beverages and health drinks, home care, natural cosmetics and healthcare products and natural food products. The company in recent times has launched a health drink product as well as various products under the brand name Soundrya, which it hopes to position as a premium cosmetics brand.
“We are also going to aggressively look at an e-commerce strategy, which will take shape this year, and focus on strengthening our exports to at least 10-12 countries this year,” he said.
