Schwing Stetter, a leading concrete equipment maker, has said that its operator training school has been recognised by the Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship as the first training centre to certify pump operators under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana initiative scheme in India.
The certification will help to provide more job opportunities across rural India and creating more skilled labour for the infrastructure industry, according to a company statement. The company has also partnered with the Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council (IESC) and, on Thursday, unveiled a Centre of Excellence (CoE) to provide training to students and unemployed youth under PMKVY.
The aim is to provide training and jobs to two lakh candidates in three years, in areas such as road construction, concreting and material preparation / processing, it said.
V G Sakthikumar, Managing Director, Schwing Stetter Sales and Services Pvt Ltd, said: “Schwing Stetter India is in the process of expanding the operator training school beyond Chennai and we have already planned to start similar courses soon in Delhi, Kolkata, and Pune in Phase I. Subsequently, we will be starting in other locations also.”
