Tata Motors has halted production for three days at its Jamshedpur plant, with the industry going through a weak period, to avoid inventory pile up. The production halt is from today.
“This is basically to ensure alignment of production with demand and to main the health of the ecosystem,” a company spokesperson, confirming the development, said.
The block closure at Jamshedpur plant is the second in a fortnight, while it had undertaken a total of 15 days closure in 2012.
The Jamshedpur plant produces heavy commercial vehicles, engines, cabs and cowls.
The demand for commercial vehicles, especially medium and heavy vehicles, have been on a decline in the past few months.
