For tea lovers, new destination cafes are being set up by Tea Trails, offering choicest range of teas in exotic combinations.

Right from Khullad Chai, a rich tea brewed with Indian spices served in a baked clay Kullad, adding an earthy flavour, spice rich Five Spices Chai, or the Oolang Tea, a tea form whose regular consumption is known to reduce cholesterol levels and promote weight loss, the choice is simply mind blowing.

Teastas, like baristas in coffee shops, are trained to make a difference to that lovely cup of tea, which friends, colleagues and lovers do not mind driving that distance for that cherished chat.

“Tea as a beverage has evolved more than 2000 years ago and gained different forms and local flavours. By bringing best of the west and east and offering Indian specialities with desi touch, we are seeking to make a difference to the discerning tea lover through our chain of Tea Trails,” Sanjeev S Potti, Co-Founder and CEO of Tea Trails, says.

Speaking to Business Line after the launch of its first store in Hyderabad, marking the entry into South India, Sanjeev said, “Thus far, Tea Trails has set up a chain of nine café in Mumbai since its launch in 2013 and four more are in the process of being set up in Mumbai. The launch of café in Hyderabad will be followed by the first one in Delhi and Chennai respectively in February and Bangalore by March.”

The company, which had raised $ 1 million (about Rs 6.5 crore), has thus far invested Rs 11 crore on its chain and plans to raise about Rs 25 crore ( about $4 million) for next phase of expansion. It is proposed to set up a chain of 100 stores by March 2017, through a combination of Company Owned and Company Managed outlets and Franchisee Managed chains.

The gourmet of teas from around the world offers an exquisite range from hot to cold and normal to extravagant including Taiwanese Bubble Tea and Tapioca Bubble Tea. The signature tea is infused dishes include Burmese tea salad, Tea marbled eggs and Tea infused Thai Bowl. Interestingly, the South Indian Kaapi- a dark roasted Coorg Coffee beans and chicory with milk, is on offer for coffee lovers.

Since tea is enjoyed in different forms, suitable tea accompaniments are offered justifying tea pairing.
