Thomson, a Technicolor group brand, has entered into a licensing agreement with Resolute Electronics Private Ltd for manufacturing of Thomson LED TVs and large home appliances in India.
The products will be manufactured by Resolute at its existing facility here. “We will invest ₹300 crore in expanding this facility over the next three years, besides spending ₹50 crore in marketing of Thomson products,” A Gopal Krishna, CEO of Resolute Electronics, told newspersons at a press conference here on Tuesday.
Exclusive production The proposed exclusive production line for Thomson will also provide direct employment to 500. Resolute has signed an agreement with Technicolor S.A. that will enable the company to use the Thomson brand for the LED TV range and other large home appliances.
According to Manuele Wahl, senior Vice-President, Technicolor, the size of Indian consumer market was pegged at $12.5 billion per annum with a growth of 10 per cent. “It is poised to become one of the top five markets in the world and we are happy to launch the Thomson brand to offer best-in-class technology and innovation in home entertainment to the Indian consumers,” she said.
Attracting investment KT Rama Rao, Minister for IT, Government of Telangana, claimed the ‘pro-industry’ attitude of his government was attracting investors. “Micromax and Celkon have already invested in Telangana and we are in talks with other smartphone makers,” he said.
