Matrix Partners India, a venture capital firm with about ₹3,000 crore under management, has picked up a significant minority stake in Kolkata-headquartered audiology and speech therapy chain Hearing Plus. The investment amount was not disclosed. Hearing Plus has 15 clinics in east India. It plans to expand operations across the country to over 100 clinics. It has just started operations in Mumbai and will focus on expanding in metros.

Zomato buys Lunchtime, Obedovat

Zomato.com, the restaurant listing and review site, has acquired Lunchtime of the Czech Republic and Obedovat of Slovakia, both providing online restaurant search services, for about $3.25 million. The plan is to build the largest restaurant information resource in the region, according to Zomato.com. The operations of Lunchtime and Obedovat will be gradually integrated into Zomato over the coming weeks.

TaxiForSure raises Series C funding

Online taxi booking platform TaxiForSure.com has raised an undisclosed amount in Series C funding from Accel Partners US, with existing investors Bessemer Venture Partners and Accel Partners India participating in the funding round. This round comes within three months of TaxiforSure raising $10 million in Series B funding led by Bessemer. The money will be used to grow the service in existing cities and to expand to new locations. TaxiForSure plans to cover more than 30 locations within a year.

Creador invests ₹100 cr in Vectus

Creador, a private equity firm focussed on long-term investments in South East Asia and India, has invested ₹100 crore for a minority stake in privately held Vectus Industries Ltd. This is Creador’s fourth investment in India. Vectus makes plastic water tanks and plastic pipes.
